UI/UX : A Methodology

As we talked before, UI/UX methodology has never be the same one and another. The process are flexible and dependable on every person. Quoted from UI/UX Trend website there are six steps to build an UX which emphasize on bringing great experience to user. The six are Research, Design, Wire-framing, Prototype, Testing, Implementation and Launch. The further explanation is also available in their post here. Meanwhile, the Marvelapp-blog defined the step into more numbers. The process are include in 20 way and breakdown it to more explanation which also you can read here. There are not wrong or considered better than anyone. By showing their method first, we also able to show you ours.

Kreatiklan embrace diversities in our team to help gather business strategy and scenarios from different paradigms, bringing in all various perspectives. We believe in addressing aspirations and necessity of the end users and impact perceptions, brand value, market share and customer loyalty in the great positions. That’s why, we have our own developed UI/UX method. As we valued collaboration, we provide deep insights and coordinated execution, share it with all the stake holder, validate them and create a springboard to the main concept. We have our five main phase which are discovery, definition, designs, development, and testing. To make a simple analogy, imagine yourself building a boat, and we’re gonna take you through it.

In the discovery phase, we conduct brainstorming session with our client to aligned the design, pattern and inquiries. We also use the process to define the goals they intended and will be the same boat we planned. We gathered many ideas to create an interface which can gain positive experiences to the user. In the end of this phase, we conduct heuristic evaluation to highlight the good and bad of an application.

The definition process is conducted between our internal team after we gathered the information and purpose on the phase one. The more detailed process probably the same as another team which include card sorting, task analysis and releasing the product road map. This phase is important because we need to assure that all of the material to build the boat is ready after the first evaluation.

The third phase is where the designer designing the boat visually and of course we named it the design phase. This needs many consideration regarding to the material we have at the previous phase. The team produce an early mock-up wire frames and the early prototype regarding the concept. Releasing the UX guideline is essentials to HTML development for the step ahead. In this phase, concept and wire frames are also being tested.

The fourth phase is where all the development begins or we should say that the boat are being build by the engineer. We need to take care this process deeply so the boat won’t grow in different way like we designed.

The last phase is where the boat is being tested before actually ready to sail. Yes, we called this phase as testing phase. We gathered accessibility testing which defined as a type of testing which performed to ensure that the application is usable by the real user not just the internal and the stakeholder. It is a subset of UI Validation. And we need to know that all the process and plan are going smooth.
